About the Department of Physical Therapy
The Department of Physical Therapy at LCPS is committed to serving the public by advancing health, mobility, and quality of life through excellence in education, research, and clinical care. Established in 2013, our five-year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program marked a significant step forward in the institution’s mission to develop highly skilled, compassionate, and reflective healthcare professionals. At LCPS, we recognize that physical therapists play a vital role in helping individuals prevent injury, recover from illness or disability, and maintain optimal physical function. Our curriculum blends the science and art of movement with modern therapeutic practices, placing strong emphasis on evidence-based education, ethical standards, and life-long learning.
The department fosters a learner-centered environment that encourages active engagement, critical thinking, and collaborative learning. Through a mix of didactic instruction, case-based analysis, clinical exposure, and reflective learning, students develop the skills necessary for effective clinical decision-making and patient care.
Clinical Collaboration
To enhance clinical competence and bridge the gap between theory and practice, the Department of Physical Therapy at LCPS has established a strong clinical collaboration with Gulab Devi Hospital, a well-recognized and multidisciplinary healthcare institution. This partnership provides our students with invaluable exposure to real-world rehabilitation settings, where they engage in supervised clinical training across a variety of cases and patient populations.
Through this collaboration, students gain hands-on experience in physical assessment, therapeutic planning, and patient management, all under the guidance of qualified clinicians and faculty. The affiliation not only enhances students’ clinical reasoning and technical skills but also instills professionalism, empathy, and confidence—preparing them to deliver quality care in diverse healthcare environments after graduation.
Purpose-Built Laboratories
The Department of Physical Therapy at LCPS is equipped with purpose-built laboratories designed to support excellence in academic instruction, clinical training, and practical skill development. These state-of-the-art facilities are specifically tailored to meet the evolving needs of physical therapy education, providing students with an immersive, hands-on learning experience aligned with contemporary clinical standards.
Our labs are furnished with modern therapeutic equipment, anatomical models, assessment tools, and rehabilitation technologies to simulate real-world clinical environments. Students gain practical exposure in areas such as musculoskeletal assessment, neurological rehabilitation, electrotherapy, exercise therapy, biomechanics, and movement analysis. All laboratory sessions are conducted under the close supervision of experienced faculty members, ensuring that students build confidence, clinical competence, and a deep understanding of therapeutic techniques. The laboratories at LCPS not only enhance technical proficiency but also foster critical thinking, collaboration, and patient-centered care—preparing our graduates to perform confidently in professional settings including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and outpatient clinics.
